PROGRAMS & COMMITTEES
OUR FIVE PROGRAMATIC THRUSTS
Health Education Employment Recreation + Arts & Humanities
Children and youth are engaged in activities that include proper nutrition, asthma awareness, obesity prevention and other good health habits. Our partnership with Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Program provides oral health care screening via Colgate’s Dental Van.
Academic achievement is the core of the education program. Services to children and youth include teaching, mentoring, tutoring, reading and mathematics proficiency, donations of school uniforms and supplies, resources to libraries, and other literary activities. Students are also helped to develop skills and attitudes that prepare them for post-secondary education and the world of work.
Recreation is essential to physical and mental wellness. Children and youth are introduced to fitness and enjoyable activities that enhance the quality of life and physical development; improve self-esteem; and model healthy ways of handling stress and emotions.
Arts & Humanities
Children and youth are provided opportunities to express and display their unique talents and interests in the Arts and Humanities through drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, performing arts, creative writing, and other creative forms of graphic, oral and written expression.
Career exploration and planning are the major foci of the employment program. Services to children and youth include career awareness; job shadowing experiences; trainings that increase self-sufficiency and job readiness; and collaborations with job training and placement agencies.
